If you happen to be de-cluttering this week. Remember that July 15 is National Give Something Away Day.

So, carefully separate out the gently used but serviceable items, or those new items you never got around to using or wearing and give them to a local non-profit where they will get the best use.

Women’s Clothing

Consider giving women’s and children’s clothing to a domestic violence center. Many times, women and children enter shelters with only the clothing they are wearing. Here in Morgantown, you can find out about them here. Be sure to call the administrative phone number to make certain they are accepting donations and the best way to deliver them.

Tools, Garden Supplies, Building Supplies and more …

Cleaning out the garage, garden shed, or basement? If you have tools, building supplies, or garden supplies that are unused (leftovers from a project, perhaps) or gently used, consider giving them to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. You can find a list here of the items they can take.

End up with the wrong color paint? Or, have full-can leftovers from sprucing the place up. Don’t just toss it. Donate it. Habitat also has a paint recycle program. Check out the details of this program.

Share a book

Have a reading habit but running out of shelf space? Consider donating some of your books to the Little Free Library. Someone else might love to read but can’t afford to grab the latest novels as they hit the store shelves. You can find a location on this map to just drop of your books, or contact them here to find out the best way to donate.

Decluttering in order to sell?

If you plan to sell your home, you’ll want to declutter with purpose. Check out our post here for more information on how to declutter to sell your home. We know that a clean and decluttered home makes a better first impression on buyers and their agents. Even in a seller’s market, you may be leaving money on the table by not presenting your home at its best.

We would love to help you get the most for your home sale. Take a look at these homes that have sold recently. One of these could be yours!
