Women’s History Month had its beginnings in 1982, when the US Congress authorized that the second week of March be declared Women’s History Week. So, on March 7, 1982, President Ronald Reagan made that declaration. Then, in 1987, the National Women’s History Alliance petitioned the US Congress to designate the entire month of March as Women’s History Month.
